The kids are back in school after a

super fun Christmas break and we

have packed away the tree.

Christmas went by way too fast

this year.

I'm just not ready to let go of 2011 yet.

It was a great year with the exception of losing our dog.

Humor me as I get a little nostalgic and take

a look back ~

Hannah & Daddy enjoyed another Father Daughter Dance

we said goodbye to our sweet Riley

a 4th grade citizenship award

took a parents-only anniversary getaway to Greenville, SC

wished Hannah a happy 10th birthday

spent some lazy days poolside

went to the gala opening at FMU's Performing Arts Center

had a super soccer season

welcomed a new family member

wished Ben a happy 7th birthday

sent Hannah off to her first school dance

ate yummy dessert on Mommy's birthday

and had a wonderful Christmas!

cherry cheese ring

This is a staple on the Bridges' family Christmas table.

It's my sister-in-law Carla's recipe and

it's one of my very favorites.

I haven't made it in years. For some reason

this year it sounded soooo good, but it makes a lot and I knew

the kids wouldn't touch it. So, when our

sunday school class decided to bring breakfast

goodies to class last week, I knew exactly what I was

going to make. And it certainly didn't disappoint!

Cherry Cheese Ring

1 cup maraschino cherries

8 ounces cream cheese

3/4 cup pecans (optional)

1/2 cup sugar

3 tsp almond extract

2 cans crescent rolls

Mix together the cherries, cream cheese,

sugar, pecans and almond extract.

Make a rectangle out of the crescent

rolls, pinching seams together.

Spread cream cheese mixture onto

crescent rolls, roll up and form into

a circle. Place seam on bottom and make

slits on the top.

Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes.

Decorate with glaze, cherries, and pecans.

Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

1/4 tsp almond extract

4 tsp milk

Thursday night at soccer practice it was 93
degrees. . . by Saturday morning the temperature
had dropped down to 60 and stayed there all day!
Very unseasonably cool for SC this time of year.

Anyway, here are some shots from Hannah's first ever

camera does not do action/sport shots well at all!
Even though their team lost, she had a great time
and is already looking forward to playing another
game Saturday morning.

We've been super busy lately. . .

Last Friday night, we had the privilege of attending the opening
night gala for Francis Marion University's Performing Arts Center.
It was a fun evening (although more like a night of work for the
hubby) and Roberta Flack put on an amazing concert!

She seems to be picking up the game quickly and most

Ben was excited he finally moved up to the 1st-3rd

our summer vacation, part 1

we have been savoring these last few days of summer
vacation . . . school starts next wednesday and soon we'll be
back in our routine-uggh! homework. . .double uggh!!

anyway, i haven't forgotten about sharing pics from our
vacation last month.

it was a great vacation. really great.
we spent lots of time catching up with family and
we were even able to squeeze in some time with
friends during this trip.

the first few days of our trip we spent at darryl's
parents house.
as you can probably tell from these pictures,
the kids had a blast swimming in mamaw and papaw's pool.
they are turning into little fishies.

they also enjoyed having fun with uncle brad at bob's drive-in

and helping mamaw pick okra in her garden

our anniversary getaway

darryl and i traveled to greenville, sc over memorial day
weekend to celebrate our 18th anniversary.

we soooo needed to get away.
just the two of us.

and we owe huge thanks to our parents for helping us
make it happen. we couldn't have gone if they hadn't
come to stay with the kids.

we stayed right downtown and were able to walk everywhere
we wanted to go. . . in fact, we valet parked our car friday night and
didn't drive again until we left on monday.
it's probably a good thing we did so much walking. . .
because, we did a lot of eating. A LOT of eating!

we had some of the best food we've eaten in a long time.
lobster ravioli at Trio,
bbq, brisket and some of the best fried green tomatoes at Smoke
on the Water,
red velvet cupcakes at The Chocolate Moose
and Luna Rosa's gelato. . . yum!!

we also enjoyed an outdoor concert, the farmer's market, strolling
through some quaint shops, an art museum and catching up at dinner with
a sweet friend and her family.

greenville's falls park at reedy river was absolutely beautiful. . . saw lots of
families strolling through the park, dogs cooling off in the fountain and even
a lady walking her iguana on a leash!

we had a great time in this beautiful city and can't wait to go
back for another visit!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Ingredients:

3 cups diced chicken, boiled

1 cup hot sauce

2 pkg cream cheese

1-16 oz bottle Ranch dressing

8 oz white cheddar, grated

Directions:

Mix chicken and hot sauce together and

spread in bottom of 9x13 pan.

Melt cream cheese and ranch dressing until smooth

and pour on top.

Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Remove from oven, place grated cheese on

top and bake 15 more minutes or until

bubbles on top and brown around edges.

Serve with tortilla chips.

melting chocolate, white & milk

Directions:

pop the popcorn and shake it
out on a cookie sheet covered with

wax paper-be sure to pick out any of those

pesky unpopped kernels

melt 2 squares each of the white &

milk chocolate in seperate bowls

mix desired amount of pretzels in

with the popcorn

drizzle popcorn & pretzels with

chocolate and top with m&m's

place in the fridge for a few minutes

and then break into chunks

store in an airtight container

see.

easy. peasy.

makes a great gift!

we cleaned out our computer cabinet

last night and found a disc with

some old pictures . . .

we didn't own a digital

camera when Hannah was a babe

so we must've scanned these pics??
